art and politics annotated bibliography

http://obeygiant.com/
this is the artists site. i found this the most useful it offered examples and downloads of his works. it also had a copy of his manifesto. the site had a lot information about his political motivation. ultimatley i found this source the most useful as it is direct from the artist and it made his intentions clear.

this is an interview with Fairey which mostly about his Obama poster. this article was particularly useful for the poster but it didn't go into depth about many of his other projects.

Juxtapoz : poster art / [writer, Kevin Thomson ; design, Justin Van Hoy].
this book was also really useful. there was lots of info on poster art as a whole. it talked about the political motivation of a lot of the poster artists. it also had quite an extensive section on shepard fairey. in this section they had good examples of works which was useful as Fairey's obey site had more of a database of all the works he had done throughout his life.
